Victorious as ever

I saw 'The Young Victoria' last night, and I loved it!

The film is dramatization of the turbulent first years of Queen Victoria's rule, and her enduring romance with Prince Albert. Emily Blunt, who I haven't seen since her bitchy-yet-brilliant role in The Devil Wears Prada was exceptional in her portrayal of The Queen.

We so often look at our Royal Family and forget they are just real people, and for me this film made Victoria so endearing and opened my eyes to the kind of struggle she faced as both a woman - a young one at that, and a Queen with such enormous responsibilities.

She was surrounded by controlling people and puppet masters, yet she followed her heart, found love and is our longest ruling royal to date

Great scenery, fantastic costumes, honest script and some male eye candy thrown in made this movie really, truly enjoyable.

Oh I love coming out of the cinema with a big grin on my face!

you've probably already seen these movies with queens, but if not you might want to: the queen w/helen mirren, elizabeth (the first one!) with kate blanchett, and the hbo tudor series is great, too!
