The Fairy Tale at your front door

Can you look around you and see the tale you are living in already? I tried and these are what I found.

There's a story everywhere you look, at home, at work, outside your window.

Though we often forget to see.

Find your fairy tale in everyday objects, go on, I double dare ya!!

Drift Away Dreamer

Did you ever have the same fairy tale fantasy when you were young? Are you lucky enough to be living it now? Where did your dreams take you? I sometimes miss the imagination we had as children, and have been slowly inviting mine back into my life.

This is an example of one of my fantasy's, (fairy tale of course - no hunky firemen present), as published in Elle Magazine....

Sitting beneath the cherry blossom tree, a palette of pink petals falling to the ground like confetti. I close my eyes and feel myself falling backwards, weightless.

I am Alice down the rabbit hole, until I land, splash, in a giant cocktail glass bubbling with champagne.

His strong arms lift me out and lie me on a bed of pearls, the scent of vanilla filling the air. True lovers kiss, he makes me melt, and as I start to drift away into his sea blue eyes I hear the piano start to play.

A night of waltzing under twinkly stars and effortless moonlight. A night of caviar canapés and intimate whispers.

I open my eyes to the sight of my blossom confetti, a velvet carpet that invites me to my fantasy. But once more, I feel his strong arms. This was no dream. I smile.

Care to share yours? xx

I came across this the other day which is too cute not to share.

For my University Dissertation (many moons ago) I studied the cultural importance and relevence of fairy tales in our modern society - from childhood through to adulthood. I did a little research at a local school, to find out what children think of fairy tales.

These answers are from Boys and Girls 5 years old. (Including the spelling!!)

Q. Who is your favourite female character and why?
A. Snow White. Cos she is beautiful and she got loads of jewellery.
A. Wendy, Cos she goes on all the adventures with Peter.
A. Grettel. Because she figgers out a way for hansel.

Q.What do you think of Prince Charming?
A. He is hansome, rich and he tall.
A. He is a really big show off.
A. He is handsome, but selfish.

Q.What are the best bits of a fairy story?
A. When it all ends up happily ever after.
A. I think the best bits are the killing.
A. I think it must be the magic.

Some of those really made me smile!

Keys Please

There is something I love about the look of an old key.

Like they hold the the answer to some incredible secret.

Or are helping conceal a treasure trove you don't want to be found.

They belong in Fairy Tales and whispered stories.

Because there is nothing more alluring than an old, withered, mysterious key.

"All her shining keys will be took from her, and her cupboards opened, and things a' didn't wish seen, anybody will see; and her little wishes and ways will all be as nothing.”
~Thomas Hardy

I feel this week on the CherryBlog will be a little more fantasy, and a little less reality!! xxxx

Dear Celebs

Dear, delightful Celebs,

Kate I hear you sold a kiss for £5,000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital , good for you! I also hear when the bids started to slow you offered to present the kiss wearing a police uniform. Always useful. P.S - I like your hair.

Princess Tiana, you are Disney's first ever black Princess, this is quite a historical moment! You look stunning, and though you have to kiss a frog, (it's all good - he's really a Prince) you are a shining example of beauty in our modern society. Good luck with your happy ever after!!

Prince William, you already make our nations heart swoon, but seeing you helping out your mothers charities and really getting involved simply puts you in our hearts even more. My photographer friend Emma took your photo last week. You told her you liked her shoes. that's really sweet. I love you.

My heart goes out to you Liam and your family after this shocking tragedy. Life is so fragile, and I cannot imagine how devastating this is. Thoughts and prayers are with you . x

see you next week celebs. x

I spy with my little eye......

Spring at its most beautiful.....

.... love appearing everywhere I look.....

...a fat cat looking great basking in the sunlight!

...and flowers which are pretty even when on the ground....

....small things making me smile....

...and I will never tire of being beside the sea.

I'm lucky to spend a day slowing down, looking around me, and watching the sunset. x

A Wishlist for Wednesday

I don't know if anyone else does this regularly, but seeing as I can't afford half the things I want (and yes, know I don't need) I save them in an ever-expanding 'wish list' folder on my computers favourites menu.

So here is a bit of mid-week indulgence, currently topping my list:

Travel Charm Necklace and Antique Ship Tee (Urban Outfitters)

Navy & Pink Cape and Silk hearts dress (Topshop)

Silk Chiffon Collar top and Meghan Fabulous Silk Tunic (ASOS)

Hedy Lamarr dress , Parasol and Modern O'Hara Dress (Modcloth)

Want to read 'The Luminous Life of Lily Aphrodite', and want to see 'Ghosts of Girlfriends past'. Anyone seen/read either of these?
What's on your wish list?!
xx
