Turn your day around

I woke up this morning, with a pain in my side and grey clouds outside.

This sounds like the opening lyric to a blues song, but alas I am not perched on a porch with my flat cap and guitar just yet.

So how to turn a frown upside down?

A hug from someone special

A cuppa with mumma

Chatting to girlfriends on the phone...

What do you do when you wake up feeling blue?

The Sweetest Melody

Is anyone out there a fan of Jazz singer Melody Gardot?

I have been listening to the 23 year olds album 'My one and only thrill' and I love it.

It is the sort of music that might accompany me painting. Or soaking in the bath tub. Or cooking a romantic meal.

What I love even more, is the story of her success.

At 19 years old, fashion student Melody was riding her bike in downtown Philadelphia when she was hit by an SUV making an illegal turn, shattering her pelvis and seriously damaging both her brain and spine. At first she was unable to even sit up, let alone walk.

After an experiment due to concerns about her short-term memory she began to write and record songs from her bedside as a way to remember her day to day activities and progress.

Pretty damn inspirational don't you think?!!

Some Lyrics from one of my favourite songs, 'If the stars were mine'

If the stars were mine, I'd give them all to you
I'd pluck them down right from the sky and leave it only blue
I would never let the sun forget to shine upon your face
so when others would have rain clouds you'd have only sunny days

If the stars were mine, I'd tell you what I'd do
I'd put the stars right in a jar and give them all to you

If the birds were mine, I'd tell them when to sing
I'd make them sing a sonnet when your telephone would ring
I would put them there inside the square, whenever you went out
so there'd always be sweet music whenever you would walk about

If the birds were mine, I'd tell you what I'd do
I'd teach the birds such lovely words and make them sing for you

If the world was mine, I'd paint it gold and green
I'd make the oceans orange for a brilliant color scheme
I would color all the mountains, make the sky forever blue
So the world would be a painting and I'd live inside with you

If the world was mine, I'd tell you what I'd do
I'd wrap the world in ribbons and then give it all to you
I'd teach the birds such lovely words and make them sing for you
I'd put those stars right in a jar...and..........give them all...to you.......

Check her out here, here and here, she is worth a listen I promise! x

Apologies dear readers!

Just a little note to say I'M SORRY!!! I have been a bad little blogger and have been posting far too infrequently.

Sometime life just gets in the way, you know!?

I have been a busy little bunny the past few weeks.

Next month sees the launch of my secret side project, which I will be very excited to share with you all very very soon!

And.... someone very very special has entered my life unexpectedly and I cannot seem to concentrate on much for very long at the moment! So let's blame him shall we?!!

Hope you all have a great weekend fellow bloggers and readers!!
Much love xx
