Age and style

I don't know how I have never seen this incredible blog - but its captivating!

Advanced style was created by Ari Seth Cohen - he roams the streets of New York looking for the most stylish and creative older folks.

His intro reads "Respect your elders and let these ladies and gents teach you a thing or two about living life to the fullest. Advanced Style offers proof from the wise and silver-haired set that personal style advances with age."

His photos are stunning and these stylish older people are so inspirational.

My own grandmother is the best dressed 82 year old I have ever met and I hope to be as creative in my clothing as these photos if I reach that age!

Most important meal of the day.

My sister dropped in a spare, lingering Easter egg to me at the shop this morning.

Hmmmm. Hadn't had time for breakfast yet.....

Is it just plain wrong to eat chocolate for breakfast?

Bizarrely the thought of 'real' breakfast turns my stomach in the mornings (cereal, toast, porridge, fruit - blah) but come lunchtime I can cope.

What's the most inappropriate thing you have had for breakfast?

Cold pizza? Chinese take away? Cake....? (just off the top of my head, of course)

Every fire is a lesson learned

Thank you for all your supportive (and humorous) comments on my Speed dating post - and thank you to blogger's meltdown last week that then deleted half of them (!?)

I wont go into all the details, but will instead share a few lessons I learnt from the experience...

1. Don't drink a glass of wine before you go
2. Don't drink too much wine during, and after, the dating takes place
3. Write clearly on your scorecard. Simply writing the words 'dull' and 'Holland' (?!) doesn't help you when you come to review your potential matches
4. DO protest when the dating number on your name tag is '13'
5. Don't take it personally when the guy equivalent who is assigned '13' doesn't show up to the event and you therefore spend the first four minutes talking to only your wine glass when the event begins and everyone is chatting away
6. Don't do a humorous blog post from your vintage boutique about silly outfits to wear to such an evening as its likely one of the men might actually end up seeing it (error)
7. Write down the correct names. Its hard to rate 'Greg' if there wasn't actually a Greg there
8. Just don't drink wine.
9. When a man comments its bad luck that you are wearing a ring on your wedding ring finger don't laugh and retort ' Oh I wouldn't worry - I don't think I ever want to get married anyway..'
10. Go with an open mind. WIDE open.

I practically live in pre loved vintage shoes - but these Valentino heels shot an arrow straight through my heart and I needed a good few minutes to recover.

A Very Royal Friday

Friday was a truly traditional British bank holiday for the Royal Wedding....
